LEGO Game Boy

Two LEGO Game Boy cartridges from the instructional manual.

The LEGO Game Boy comes with 2 cartridges you build: Super Mario Land and Link's Awakening. When you build the Link's Awakening cartridge it includes a tiny LEGO battery which is not included when you build Super Mario Land because Super Mario Land did not have a save function, while Link's Awakening did. Even if you are old enough to have lived through the cartridge era you may not have realized that cartridges that supported saving had a tiny battery in them because they need power to maintain the save data.

Once the cartridges are built it's impossible to tell them apart (except for the sticker, obviously) and the battery can't be seen from the outside. And still, this LEGO cartridge has a LEGO battery so you can save while playing your LEGO Game Boy.

That is exceptional attention to detail.
